Visual Novel Mode brings characters, dialogue and scenes together in an interactive story

The new storytelling mode lets creators co-write visual novels with Mio.2, generating characters, scenes, dialogue and branching choices one page at a time.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, September 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- PixAI, an AI-powered creative platform for anime and 2D content, has introduced Visual Novel Mode in Mio.2, giving creators a new way to build interactive stories through natural conversation.

Available through the “New Story” entry point in Mio.2, Visual Novel Mode is designed around a simple idea: instead of preparing a complete script, designing dialogue boxes or assembling visual novel layouts manually, creators can tell Mio.2 what kind of character and story they have in mind and develop it together through chat.

Mio.2 guides users through a few initial questions about the story, characters, setting and the role they want to play. From there, it generates the story one page at a time, bringing together character artwork, backgrounds, dialogue and text in a visual-novel-style presentation.

Co-Writing a Story Through Conversation

Visual Novel Mode is built for creators who may have an idea but not a finished screenplay.

A creator can begin with something as simple as an original character, a relationship dynamic or a “what if” scenario. Mio.2 then asks questions to help shape the concept and turns those answers into an opening scene.

Users do not need to describe every visual detail or format each page themselves. Mio.2 handles the illustration, dialogue box and text layout, allowing creators to focus more on the characters and direction of the story.

The mode can support a wide range of narrative ideas, from slice-of-life and romance to mystery, adventure and friendship stories. It can also be used to visualize original characters, explore fan-work or doujin concepts, or simply create and play through a personalized visual story.

One Page, One Choice, at a Time

Once the opening scene is generated, the story continues interactively.

At key moments, Mio.2 generates several possible actions or story directions for the user to choose from. Each choice becomes context for the next generated scene, allowing the narrative to branch and evolve as the user plays.

Creators are not limited to the suggested options. If they want the story to move in another direction, they can type their own action or idea and let Mio.2 continue from there.

This makes Visual Novel Mode both a storytelling tool and an interactive experience: users can act as the creator, reader and participant in the same story.
For users who prefer to watch the narrative unfold with less manual input, an Auto option can also advance the story automatically.

Go Back, Review and Change the Story

Visual Novel Mode also gives creators control over stories after they have already started.

Users can move back to an earlier page and choose a different option, review the full story generated so far, and see the images and prompts behind previous scenes.

Through Settings, creators can also adjust elements such as the generation model, story title, overall plot direction and character details. For example, a creator can change a character’s hairstyle or introduce a new character partway through the story and continue developing the narrative from there.
A Hide UI option removes dialogue and text temporarily, allowing users to view the generated artwork on its own.

Story progress remains available as long as the Mio.2 thread is retained, so creators can leave a story midway and return later to continue building it.

A New Space for Original Characters and Story Ideas

For creators already developing original characters or fictional worlds, Visual Novel Mode offers a way to explore those ideas beyond a single illustration.
An OC can become part of a longer storyline. Two characters can be placed into a new relationship or situation. A rough concept for a comic, fan work or narrative project can be tested visually before it becomes a fully developed project.

Rather than separating writing, image generation and visual layout into different steps, Mio.2 brings them together into a conversational workflow.

By making interactive storytelling feel more like chatting through an idea, PixAI aims to help creators move more easily from “I have a character” or “I have a story idea” to something they can immediately see, play and continue developing.

Visual Novel Mode is currently available through Mio.2, with users able to access it by selecting “New Story.”
